In 2002, Causa joined the national effort led by United Farm Workers, One Million Voices for Legalization, an unprecedented grassroots campaign designed to urge the White House and Congress to move forward on a new legalization program for undocumented immigrants. The goal was to reframe the narrative around immigration and provide the opportunity for politicians to respond to the push for legalization. Focusing on the contributions of immigrants to communities around the country, Causa was able to contribute to the national conversation surrounding immigration. By October 2003 over 33,000 pledge cards were collected from Oregonians in support of the campaign. Along with PCUN, Causa brought together state and national advocacy organizations, unions and immigrant rights coalitions to push for a path to legalization.
